Oliver! is the musical adaptation of Charles Dickens’ classic novel Oliver Twist, with music, book and lyrics by Lionel Bart. The musical follows Oliver, a malnourished orphan from the workhouse, who becomes the neglected apprentice to an undertaker. Oliver escapes to London and finds acceptance amongst a group of petty thieves and pickpockets, led by the electrolyte and wily Fagin. When Oliver is captured from a theft he did not commit, Mr. Brownlow, the benevolent victim, takes him in. Fearing for the safety of his hideout Fagin employs the sinister Bill Sikes and the sympathetic Nancy to kinap him back, threatening Oliver’s chances of discovering the true love of a family.

Eagle Award nominations went to Sarah Towle for her portrayal of Nancy, and to Jonathan Penton as Fagin – the award going to Jonathan on the night. The company also won the award for Best Production of a Musical.
